Postman, the world's leading API collaboration platform, today released v11, a significant update that dramatically accelerates development by reducing the complexity of API collaboration. Announced in conjunction with POST/CON 2024, v11 is a groundbreaking update that could revolutionize software development. Just as SVN gave way to Git and Git evolved into GitHub, the next wave is upon us, driven by the symbiotic relationship between artificial intelligence and APIs.

In Postman's latest State of APIs report, 60% of API professionals reported that they use generative AI tools for purposes such as finding bugs in code, creating code, and learning to code. It is widely believed that AI will increase developer productivity, with the majority of respondents predicting productivity gains of up to 25%. Moreover, Gartner estimates that by 2026, more than 80% of enterprises will be using APIs or generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) models, up from less than 5% in 2023.

Key features of v11 include:

• Postbot is now widely available: A groundbreaking AI companion that offers a wide range of capabilities - from test creation and documentation to expert debugging and data visualization - is revolutionizing the developer workflow. First introduced last year, Postbot, by understanding the deep context of developers' APIs, has dramatically accelerated the API testing process.
• Seamless communication of API changes: API updates will now appear in a new workspace update feed for internal and external API consumers, rather than being scattered across email, chat, and repositories. This eliminates the risk of API consumers using outdated APIs, which can cost a company a lot of money, time and resources to fix.
• Expand access to partner workspaces: partner APIs play a key role, whether it's an app marketplace with thousands of partners or a connection between two companies in a strategic partnership. However, as APIs are updated, it becomes difficult to make sure partners are working with the most up-to-date APIs if they don't have a place to collaborate on them. To solve this problem, Postman has expanded partner workspaces - places where companies and their partners can work on APIs and communicate changes to APIs - by adding the ability to distribute Postman API collections to multiple external partners at once.
