Stability AI joins Thorn and All Tech Is Human to commit to child safety for generative AI

Stability AI, along with industry leaders such as Amazon, Anthropic, Civitai, Google, Meta, Metaphysic, Microsoft, Mistral AI and OpenAI, has committed to implementing robust child safety measures in the development, deployment and maintenance of our generative AI technologies. This initiative, led by Thorn, a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting children from sexual abuse, and All Tech Is Human, an organization dedicated to collectively solving complex technology and societal problems, aims to reduce the risks that generative AI can pose to children.

By adopting the overarching principles of Safety by Design, we are working with our colleagues to set new standards for ethical AI development, ensuring that children's safety is prioritized at every stage. As part of the working group, we have agreed to issue annual updates on progress from 2025 onwards.

This commitment marks a significant step forward in preventing the misuse of artificial intelligence technology to create or disseminate child sexual abuse material (AIG-CSAM) and other forms of sexual harm against children.

These collective actions highlight the tech industry's approach to keeping children safe, demonstrating a shared commitment to ethical innovation and the well-being of society's most vulnerable members.
